I have a tree spot in my front yard, and I like to buy a Japanese maple. The spot is full of sun during sunny days. Does anyone know is any Japanese maple sun tolerates?

I have tried hard to grow a Japanese maple, twice: unsuccessful! Spoke to a friend who told me sandy soil is favoured to the Japanese maple. Too much sun (too much) may cause problems to the tree, but not so sure how much sun would be the best.

I think the sun is not a major issue, but soil and water: sandy soil is perfect for Japanese Maple and need to keep moisture within the soil that requires watering almost every day particularly in hot days.

What Japanese Maples Need:

 Dappled or afternoon shade, especially when young
 Protection from strong wind
 Well-drained, consistently moist soil, neither excessively wet nor dry
 Protection from late spring frosts, especially when young
