In 2014 I completed and received my Bachelor of Music with Honours at the Queensland Conservatorium . This degree allowed me to undertake subjects that improved my musicianship and performance skills, as well as teaching me theory and good methods for teaching students. During my degree I achieved High Distinction in theory and I strive to incorporate the teaching of theory into the instrumental lessons that I give.
My Principle instrument is Clarinet and play Bb, Eb and Bass clarinet. I have also studied saxophone and flute and have played all of these instruments in ensembles at the Queensland Conservatorium.
Over the years, I have been involved in various Wind and Symphony Orchestras both at the university and in organisations such as Queensland Youth Orchestras, Queensland Wind Orchestra, Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra, Queensland Philharmonia, Brisbane Symphony Orchestra, Redlands Symphonia, Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra and Ipswich City Orchestra. Additionally, I have been a member of Pit Orchestras for various musicals including the Wizard of Oz, My Fair Lady, Guys and Dolls, Joseph and the Technicolour Dream Coat, Sweet Charity, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Oklahoma, Phantom of the Opera, Annie, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and a World Premier of Saturday Night Fever.
I currently teach privately at a music school, and this year have had contracts at Matthew Flinders College and Saint Johns Anglican College. In previous years I’ve also taught at North Pine Christian College. I’ve also been called upon to attend school music camps and help prepare students for upcoming competitions and concerts.
I hold a current Blue Card and would be delighted to share my skills and experience.
