I am choosing the finish for my Merbau deck. I am incline to water-based semi-transparent finish for better durability and lower maintenance. I also found some information about Cutek. According to Timber Coatings Australia, unlike the stains, Cutek - is not surface coating - repels water - works deep within the timber - will not crack or peel off - imparts outstanding dimensional stability - resists unsightly surface mould and fungus - creates a fresh natural timber look that won't hide the grain. Any one got practical experience with using Cutek? Also my friend recommended natural plant oils and waxes from Whittle Waxes. Whittle Waxes is the exclusive Australian distributors of Treatex and PNZ in Germany. Which one should I choose, the environmentally-friendly timber finishes or Cutek?

I have called Timber Advisory Centre. The advisor recommends Cutek. Previously he used Sikkens such as CETOL DECK or CETOL DECK PLUS Slip Resistant. Whittle Waxes is also a good product providing hard waxes for interior applications, including floors, furniture, feature timber paneling or any timber surface. According to the website of Whittle Waxes, it can be used for exterior applications such as decking as well.
